Rob has 5 bands in 5 cities, coast to coast and travels internationally performing a wide variety of jazz forms. From Big Band to Funk, NYC to Portland, Oregon, Rob does it all, and does it well. His reputation as an outrageous jazz character is superceeded by across-the-board respect as a musician. This intervew was recorded in November, 2005 at a coffee shop in Portland where Rob and I met to discuss his various projects, including a recent recording with Steve Swallow and Carla Bley, his touring schedule, input on who the great past and present jazz players are and what is necessary to make a great jazz scene.
